Past to Present and the changes in the middle

While out perusing through Best Buy one night, my boyfriend and I ran into an old friend from high school's mom. We stood chatting a while and did a 10 min catch up on the past two years or so. What everyone was up to, and the normal disfunction that has been going on in that family since I was about 8.

After a little chatting both parties had to run and I was left with a phone number to somebody who used to know me better than anyone else on the face of this planet. I pondered the phone number for a couple of days and eventually called her and we set a time for us to catch up.

She came over a couple of days ago and we sat in our dining room chatting about old memories and new occurances in our lives, over coffee. It made us both laugh how different it was that we were sitting over coffee discussing our lives, instead of going out and getting insanely drunk and doing something illegal.

Recap- D.G. and I used to be best friends in high school. She was one of the few people that I maintained contact with post graduation, and we hung out at least once every few months as not to lose touch. This failed and we eventually stopped talking after more than a few incidences of her taking full advantage of my willingness to help a friend out.

It is quite interesting to look back on the years of my life and how I have changed and grown since the day that I met D.G. We were in 2nd grade and she yelled at me for chasing Dave around the playground. I'm sure in high school we had many major meltdowns over my prom dress being stained or the newest fling breaking up with us, but in this conversation we talked of work and the men in our lives. We spent time dwelling on our spirituality and faith, and the newest accomplishments. Everything changed and we changed, neither of us ended up the way we thought we would be at 21. For some reason, though, I couldn't help but sit and think of how lucky I am.

Not that I'm trivializing your life changes but.....

You have no idea of the changes that are about to become you. You are at that exciting and freightening moment between adulthood and childhood. Things are accelerating and will continue to for the next few years. It lasted about 3 years in my case starting at about 23. Read this post again at 26, you'll laugh and shake your head in wonder all over again. That said, catching up with old friends is always a good thing to do.

I know that there are many more changes coming my way, and I don't doubt that they are going to be huge and probably difficult. I'm looking forward to it.

and by the way lsd, i rubbed budah's belly while holding onto his head. YES! I finally sent it. and i still have your mythos.

Oh my shoes! Congrats on the send. When will you go climbing again so that I can get my shoes?

I started lifting weights again last night and this morning I'm sore as hell, but hopefully I'll climb better again shortly.

I should be at the gym on wednesday? But for sure on Friday. I'll probably get there before you do, since we live 4 minutes away. But if not, if jesse or dj are there I can leave them with the gym?

damm lsd just how many chicks have been in your shoes anyway? *lmao* everything nice would so think this was a metaphor

*giggling*

anyway beaus i have one more thing to add to all this, stay feeling lucky and don't be in a rush to 'grow up'

:)

Beaus- Yeah you can leave them at the gym. Just make sure they have my name on them. I wouldn't want them to end up as renals.

Sass- This is yet another pair of shoes. You've never tryed them on or even seen them probably. Beaus happened to own the same shoe in a similar size but didn't have them with her one day. So I decided she could wear mine.

You might want to try them on for evaluation purposes. They are called Mytho's. A slightly less technical shoe that can be worn all day long. They edge well and smear like a staunch Republican. No down turned toe for extreme overhangs though.

Yep, I thought it was pretty funny when I thought of it too. Please feel free to use it in your daily life. I hope someone uses that phrase in a conversation one day and I'll know thats it has seeped into the cultural conscience.
